Introduction

Hello, my name is Thomas Jefferson. I was born April 13, 1743. I was the thrid president of the United States of America. I was a Democratic Republican. My vice presidents in my two terms were Aaron Burr and George Clinton. Some people call me the Father of the Declaration of Independence, because I was the principle author of it. I married Martha Wayles Skelton in 1772, and stayed married to her until her death in 1782. Before I became president, I was a lawyer and a farmer. I was Vice President under John Adams, our country's 2nd president (1797-1801). I was the 1st U.S Secretary of State (1789-1793), and the 2nd Governor of Virginia (1779-1781). I served as President from 1801-1809. I was 57 when I was inaugurated. I had six children: Martha Washington Jefferson, Jane Randolph Jefferson, stillborn son, Mary Wayles Jefferson, Lucy Elizabeth Jefferson I, and Lucy Elizabeth Jefferson II. I am a unitarian and also a deist. It has been said that I was one of the most influential founding fathers.
